Recently, Deeplite CEO Nick Romano revealed on social media that STMicroelectronics (ST) has completed the acquisition of Deeplite, but did not provide further transaction details.
It is understood that Deeplite is an artificial intelligence startup based in Toronto that has previously raised $6.47 million. The focus of this acquisition is Deeplite's unique technology. Deeplite's software makes it easier to run AI applications on chips in devices such as smartphones and robots. Its customer base is mainly semiconductor companies, which is highly compatible with STMicroelectronics' business, which focuses on designing and manufacturing chips for various customers.
After the acquisition, by combining Deeplite's advanced edge AI software solutions with STMicroelectronics' state-of-the-art MCU and NPU, STMicroelectronics will provide one of the world's most advanced edge AI platforms.
